Car import from ROl to the UK, previously registered in UK

Hi, my car was originally registered in UK exported to Southern Ireland and I bought it there, now I moved to UK I need to register it here in my name.. Just wondering what the process like... Contacting DVLA I got two different advices. First advice was to go do the NOVA, V55 form and do the normal import procedure and the second advice - the car is NOT marked as export in the system by the trader when carried to ROl and just go to the post office, get V62 sorted, tax and drive the car straight away. Very confused what I should do. Anyone gone through same situation? Help appreciated please! X

If it's not marked as exported it should still be on the UK system? Try a vehicle check with the original number...

If it shows up, albeit untaxed and unmot'd, it's easy from there and you won't have to pay any duty & vat due to newly registered as an import.
