Watching foodie programme on tv and realised I would not eat some of the meals suggested.

To start off.

1 whale meat for endangered species reasons
2 octopus, they are intelligent and don’t live long so not for me.
3 porridge, disgusting gloop only fit for feeding cattle, even more disgusting with added salt

Any more things you would not eat?

Crazy stuff like dog, cat etc no way would I eat it. Although I am not in places that might be offered often!

On the more normal side blue cheese or any strong cheese really and things like oysters, uni etc. Cant deal with the texture.

Will eat most other things.

Tripe, tongue, black pudding, sweet breads, I think anybody who does has something seriously wrong with their heads.

Oysters are OK, snails only made palatable by being drenched in a garlic sauce.

Agree with offal though.

Chicken feet as sold in better Chinese restaurants, just sounds revolting.

I do not eat with my eyes, taste only, have tasted some disgusting food, only once though!

I won’t eat:
Oysters
Snails
Brains
Lungs
Tripe
Trotters
Thousand year old eggs (again)
Cockles
Clams
Whelks

I’m odd, so will happily eat:
Liver
Kidneys
Lambs’ hearts
Mussels

I have eaten off the beaten track in Asia, so it’s possible I’ve eaten canine and feline friends without realising.

Black puddin and tonque are really nice

but not tripe or a lambs pancreas

or beetroot.

or Dorian fruit.

Things that actually taste horrible, like snakes bile.

Anything else, no problem (and I was really picky as a kid!)

Oooh, just noticed above, 1000 year old eggs, agreed. Came across these in Guangdong, just why would anyone make them.

Not much

Tripe
Liver
Kidney

I’ll give pretty much anything else a go to at least see if it should be added to the list.

I wonder how often it's bad experience with badly cooked food that's the problem, rather than the food itself?

Take liver. Some mightn't eat it because they don't agree with eating offal. Or they just don't like the taste. Others though might not have experienced it cooked properly and still have memories of the dry, powdery shoe leather they had as a kid. Hard to overcome that, which is a shame as some foods can be glorious if cooked nicely with good ingredients.

As long as it's 'fit for human consumption' I'll give it a go. Whether I have it again though is a different matter. E.g. tofu, no thanks, once was enough. I could also probably rule out anything rock hard as my teeth would probably fall apart.

I absolutely love oysters.

But they will make me puke

Not sure I am allergic to them, but I had very bad food poisoning 30 odd years ago and I think my body just thinks fk that I am not having it.

I had some a couple of months ago in a pretty posh place.
Ate them.
Thought yes this is fine for about 15 mins.
Puked.

Came back and 15 mins later was right as rain.

Meat.

Despite eating it for 41 years, and not eating it for a mere 6 by comparison, the idea of eating it quickly seemed weird once I stopped.

I do still think that in general it looks and smells great!
