Caterham depreciation - what's the truth?

Hi folks, looking for a toy car and, having had several previous rental Caterham experiences on track days, I thought I might go and actually buy one.
Obviously as a collection of bits they are not worth the actual built price, but the market seems to support itself on the steady demand and supposed low depreciation. I know that Porsche is another marque that supposedly has low depreciation but the reality is that unless they're it's specced up to the hilt and in the right colours then an unwary buyer gets left with a lemon. So, my question is what's the real world hit to be expected from one of the more desirable Caterham models - say 420 or 620 - after 2 or 3 years?

I bought a 400 Duratec from Caterham second hand but as new. Kicked it's head in for 2 years and it sold for what I bought it for minus their commission. Can't argue with that !

When was that? I think the market has become much tighter in the last two years.

I paid £24k for mine at 4 years old. Sold 5 years later for £14k. Did about 18k miles in that time.

The more you pay, the more deprecation will hit you. High end Cateram's will suffer some higher depreciation.

It some time ago now, but I think if I recall correctly, my Caterham cost me about £2k in 26 months of ownership. It was an Academy Sprint.

A couple of years ago , I should have mentioned that , soz. Has it changed that much since ?
