I will need to replace all tyres very soon, I currently have Continental contiSport N1's all round (18 inch alloys).

I know these are expensive tyres, but I will be happy to pay if they have a longer life (more miles)

anyone know what tyres have the highes wear rating?

I dont want the maximum grip, just somthing that will last as I do alot of miles.

thanks in advance!

Sadly I don't drive a Porsche, but I am a real advocate of Goodyear Eagle F1s. They are a great tyre in the wet. I've just done Eurohoon on them and they were awesome in the wet on the mountain passes. They also did me proud in the wet on the Nurburgring. I know a chap with a Ferrari (360 I think) who swears by them too. I still have plenty of meat on them after about 9,000 miles.

Michelin Pilot Sports are very good.

I had them on my Boxster and was recommended I got them put on my M3.

I also thought the Michelin Pilot sports were good - very grippy and long-lasting, but I think it can depend hugely on the car and driving style. My experience is don't get Pirelli Pzeros as they are noisy and grip is poor in comparison. I've never driven the conti's.

Don't think they do the Eagles in an N rating for your car...

Michelin Pilots are great, but you have to compare like for like. You'll get similar wet and dry grip, slightly better wear, and less noise, from the Conti SportContact2 N2.

That's what i'm going back to after the S02A's i've got now (which go off in the wet when they're half worn).

If you're after wear rather than grip, then the best N rated choice is the ContiSports you've already got. Our boxster is heading for 40k with the original fronts still on.

Here is a link to a tire thread. There is also a link there-in to TireRack, in the US. Although people in the UK won't be using TireRack for shipping, the test report charts on TireRAck are invaluable tools to measure one tire against the other.

There are also many "road tests" of the various tires there too. Of major importance to me, is the hydroplane resistance and wet adhesion characteristics, because that's where I believe my biggest need for safety is. The wear factors on these charts are very important too.

I generally look at(and buy from)the "Ultra High Performance" tire listing. However, be aware that they also have a "Ultra High Performance" tire listing too, with a totally seperate chart, test report listing, etc. You have to hunt for it a bit, but it's there and quite a valuable tool for evaluation.

Au contraire, albeit my experiences of these tyres are 90% track & only 10% road related. I also accept that both the TVRs are somewhat lighter with different handling characteristics to the Porsche. I've used Pirelli P Zero Cs & Pirelli P Zero Corsas. Grip is outstanding in the dry in both cases.

In dreadful conditions at both Donington & Silverstone, very little came past me once the P Zero Cs had warmed up. The grip in the wet surprised me I have to say, but vital to get lots of heat in them.

Durability (or rather lack of) is the price paid for fantastic grip. 5 to 6 days use for the P Zero Cs, 3 to 4 for the Corsas.

Hi flemke - how are you doing ?

What exactly is "treadware" ? I can guess what it means but how is it calculated ?

I don't know the specifics, but the rating is not normalised between brands I'm told, so its not valid to do cross brand comparisons of treadware rating.

How odd if true.
I can say that I went through a set of Corsas in a bit of road driving and 15 laps of the Nordschleife, while a Dunlop SSR on the same car was good for 50+.
The Corsas are really nice, although unjustifiably expensive.
The "Edo" race car pretending to be a production road car that went for the NS record last month was on Corsas, and they worked pretty well on that occasion.

Mainly by not ragging the arse off it everywhere. It's an everyday car and not a plaything so it does a lot of mundane mileage. Rears replaced at 28k ish.

I rather like the Pirelli Pzeros Ive got on mine at the moment, big improvement over continental N1's that were on b4(they were Knackerd though) Only 2 tyres I have tried on a P car

Plenty of grip seems to improve turn in feel but that might just be my imagination.

My previous favourites of Goodyear F1 and Bridgstone S02 I did not get because they do not do N ratings(or no place local could source them )
