Really awful to hear that he was killed on the Rally GB. I'm sure I speak for most of us here to say that my thoughts are with his family, the Peugeot Team and Markko Martin, who must be in a place none of us ever want to go to right now.
Seconded. Rest in Peace Beef.

just got home - took Ben my 4 year old son out for his first rally and got the news while we were waiting for the cars to come back to service at Felindre. We never got to go into the mountain stages which is obviously the reason for going and a real shame for Ben.
a very sombre mood at the service park and particularly sad to see the peugeot stand being taken down early with only one car back in the park, under its cover.
this was gutting news to hear as i have followed Park's career along with Burns and McRae (both of whom he co-drove for) and the other British drivers and co-drivers.

Very very sad news, and just goes to show that despite the very latest in safety equipment and technology, tragedy can still strike.
Motorsport is a dangerous occupation and there is no getting away from that fact.
Andy
Hobby or otherwise, that, sadly, is life.
Could have happened crossing the road, but it doesn't make it any better.
spent a great day at Rheloa on friday then this. never met the bloke but i am sure he was a nice bloke and the sport has lost one of its brightest participants. I feel deeply sorry for Markko who must not know what to think right now. took some cracking photos which I will try to put up later tonight, ironically, one of the best is of Markko and Martin at Walters Arena.
Very sad, we were on our way to Margam for the second run through when we heard the news, so we went to the service area and it was a very down hearted atmosphere.
As a navigator myself i never worry if it happens to me as the general safety in rallying is second to none but when it does happen to someone else it makes you think.
My mate was interveiwed by BBC Radio Wales and was asked if he thought the sport was too dangerous and it sounded like he was trying to pin a blame on someone
RIP

Pretty much summed up my thoughts. On my first visit to Wales Rally GB I had an overall great time at Rheola 1, Brechfa 2, and Halfway 1/2.
Was at the popular Margam 1 spectator area and had a bad feeling at the initial delay then worse at the first short and vague press release from the team over the speakers. Was gutted at the final confirmed news.

Tragic news, and a sobering thought when I was looking forward to us geting back out in a fortnight.
It is something that none of us think about until we see something like this happen.
Which event?
I think we all know just what risks we take, but I find that reminding myself that if I don't do my job properly then the chances of having an off are greatly increased, seems to help to focus the mind. Kinda something along the lines of "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself".
