Anybody out there that's had one fitted and done a before and after dyno run ?

New to the Griff scene so I'm interested in the effect on power and torque as I wouldn't want change if it's going to adversly effect the engine performance.

Quinny

Main concern for me is that it doesn't adversely effect power or torque.

Which system are you using ?

Thanks Andy. I live in Macclesfield so JP is about 3 miles from me.

Anybody got any idea who I could talk to about before and after dyno figures ?

I'd hate to go to all the trouble and expense of fitting a sports system only to find out that the engine performance had been reduced. Improvement in sound is secondary to me, I'm interested in increases in power and torque.

You could try Tim Lamont of Act Prosucts thers a few that have done the mod but doubt there is many who have before and after figures just for the exhaust mod.

Leave well alone then. Sports exhaust at best maintain the current power/torque but at worst can reduce it. Very much engine specific though. They generally work by reducing the baffling which in turn decreases the back pressure which can upset the engine a bit.

Yup! as others have pointed out, there seems little, if anything, to be gained after the manifolds. If you've a catted motor, then having the precats removed and non-reversal-cones welded in their place would seem the best option for you (pound for pound feet). Timmy 2Sheds (ACT) would advise and give you an idea of gains. New manifolds are pricey!

Thanks guys

I've been improving the performance of turbo charged RS Fords for the last 12 years and with forced induction exhaust system upgrades are a key part of the equation.

Once I get the hang of this normally aspirated stuff I'll be ok.

I'm in a similar boat to you - moving from forced induction to NA. It came as a bit of a shock that just removing the cats didn't give you 20 to 30 bhp for not much

Tim's manifolds certainly look the part (seen at the Growl, but not bought myself yet). I expect there's a bit of a gain there, but the cost/bhp probably won't be all that great.

I just got mine back after having the same treatment Andy, I'm really pleased with the whole service.

Hopefully they'll do a good job of retaining the heat as well as looking great

The ACT manifolds are cheaper than standard ones IIRC.

Hi Dave, Have you fitted them yet?

Where did you get yours done?

Andy.

Camcoat did mine Andy, I also had the inside of the manifolds coated in thier top spec black ceramic ( I had to remove the pre cats for this part, without cutting the manifold! which was a nice job!).

I haven't fitted them yet, hopefully next week sometime

What are the pros and cons of removing the pre cats ?
