Leven dash fitting queries

Don't know if anyone has ever peeked behind the dash of their Cerb...let alone tried to replace it with a Leven aluminum one.
But I did...and disconnected *ALMOST* every connection one by one, ensuring correct labelling for reattachment and taking the utmost care of the ribbon cables back there...only to have to put it all back together again because of the following two issues.
1. I could not for the life of me figure out how to unattach the water/engine temp gauge wire (black wire with metal spiraled around it). It seems soldered in place...but I didn't want to unsolder till I knew what was inside that wire.
2. The Leven dash does not come with the threads to re-attach the circuit board that holds the MIL, indicator etc LEDs...they seem to be held in place with some sort of glue...has anyone any ideas how I can replicate these screw threads and how they are attached...
If anyone has any solutions to these questions...or any general dos and don'ts for dash replacement...words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

PUT THE SOLDERING IRON DOWN !!
I think you will find the gauge, pipe, and sensor is a sealed unit, cut the pipe and its the end of the whole lot !
Drain the water, diss the sensor from the ( probably rotting) metal water pipe, remove the 46 cable ties that hold the capilary tube onto the chasis, remove gauge and pipe through the existing dash, and reverse the process with new dash, ( preferably using less cable ties)
Or keep the existing dash and spend your time driving the car instead !!

The gauge is permently linked to the sender and cannot be disconnected. The only way is to unclip the pipe, unscrew it under the bonnet, unthread it through the dash panel and bulkhead. Replacement is the opposite. All fittings and lights are taken from the old dash and reattached using 2 part Araldite.
