Hello,

currently have a 2015 Octavia with Satnav/Bluetooth etc but looking into my options to get Android car play, ideally without having tons of cables flopping about.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I guess I have a similar system ("MIB 2.5") which supports wired/USB Android Auto but not wireless.
I'm waiting on a wireless USB dongle from Aliexpress so will let you know how I get on. with it.

It all depends what stereo you have. 2015 was the changeover from mib1 to mib2

Mib1 has. 5.8” screen (or 8” if you have the upgraded Columbus nav) and mib2 has a 6.5” screen.

The former you would need an aftermarket combox of some sort to use carplay/android auto but if you have mib2 the unit is compatible but would need activating plus a USB module changed.

You can tell if you have mib2 as if you go to the main menu there should be an icon for app connect (or whatever skoda call it)

Just to confirm - Android Auto wireless works fine with this adapter (2019 Kodiaq with Columbus / MIB2.5 and Samsung Galaxy S21).

I also ordered a right-angle USB adapter so I can close the lid of the storage bin that has the USB socket.

Unfortunately there no longer seems to be a way to make Waze the default navigation app for Android Auto.
Google removed the "set default app" in Android 14 from Settings but haven't added it to the Waze app. So you're forced to use Google Maps, which doesn't give speed camera safety warnings unless you are navigating a route.

(Nothing to do with the wireless adapter).

Can you get an aftermarket head unit? Something like this has Android Auto built in … https://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/car-...
