Picture the scene......
Driving in a 30, through a small town, following my neighbour.
Opposite side of the road, come 3 or so lovely looking bikes. The front one (i thought it was an R6) kicked down one or two, pulled a huge wheelie, and held it for what seemed like ages....
I was well impressed! When we stopped my neighbour said how stupid it was, and that bikers in general, have a bad pr with the general public and most car drivers.....and upon reflection, I think I totally agree.
So, are we all concerned about the "PR" bit, or not? And do we all think that these antics are best left for the track?
Cheers,
Chilli.

Have to agree with your neighbour to a certain extent. Popping a wheelie in the middle of a village with traffic around, impressive though it may have been, is rather a stupid thing to do. Things like that are best left to the track (or perhaps a deserted road somewhere).
It's a shame that in general bikers do have a bad PR, as we're not all lunatics. It's the nutter few that give the rest of us a bad name.

Plenty of track stewards wouldn't be too impressed at you doing wheelies or stoppies on their track either.
Right time and place OK........eg. no one else around.
But then where's the show off element to that![]()
I'm a long way off doing either anyway
Yeah, me also...which is why I was so impressed....Initially!
Interesting debate...
I agree with you Vitesse, I hate to say it but if i see someone pulling a wheelie first i think that was cool good bike control followed by... bit of a Twat though!!
I reckon its got more to do with how old you are than anything.
oh those were the days on my RGV 250 Lucky Strike wheeling down the high street on the balancing point.....

Agreed. Bunch af lads/girls, teens to twentyies....even maybe older, might be impressed and appreciate the skill involved. However, the rest of society would want the noisy b'stards shot on sight. Down to the individual I suppose, but just thought this kinda thing didn't help the general publics perception of bikers (tarred with the same brush etc)so it's not surprising so many motorists won't move over to let us filter etc....
I wheelied away from some lights on an NSL back in the summer and when I saw my neighbour a couple of days later, he said he was a few cars behind me when I did it and said it looked awesome.
I think out of town wheelies are fine, but in a 30, a full on balance point wheelie with an open pipe would be too much.
