MK Sports cars
Discussion
Hi, I am thinking about getting a Lightweight Caterham/Westfield style car and came across the MK Sportscar Website. There cars look pretty good. I gave them a ring and to have one built with either an R1 or Fireblade engine in seems to fit my Budget (If you have read other posts by me the type of car and budget has changed!)
Anyway has anyone got an MK or have any experience of them? What are they like? Whats the better engine?
I've been told by MK that I should fit in one easily! I am 6ft1 ish and 16ish Stone, I was told there alot bigger than the Caterham which I have looked at and didn't bother trying to get in!
Also any other info/alternatives would be much appreciated!

have a look on;

There's an MK section on there where you'll find lots of happy Indy builders.
I was going to go for one until I saw the Sebring at the Brands hatch Total Kit Car Live show last Saturday. Mr bank manager is going to be most upset with me now....

That sounds promising, the guy I spoke to at MK seemed to think I will have no problem, i guess I will find out on saturday when I hopefully go up there for a look!
BTW what are peoples thoughts on the two engine options? which is better from the R1 or Fireblade?
Thanks for all the advice so far, still looking forward to visitig MK on Saturday......
How do you go about getting the car Serviced? Is it a general garage job or specialists? I take the service takes place as a bike engine would every 3-4k I beleive?? Garage19 do you service your own? If so would you service mine? Your at Martlesham heath aren't you?
Are the cars generally reliable? being a kit car I am assuming there are some faults!

Also,
what's the handling like compared to a Caterham..?
Most of the Indy's I've seen seem to be on chav tastic 18 inch bling alloys. I know the Caterham boys wouldnt go above 15 inch and many say 13 is the best on a seven...
any comments?
It really isn't as good as a Caterham. MK have a good reputation for supplying the cheaper "7" clone market but don't kid yourself, there is a reason why Caterhams cost a fair bit more!
The Caterham chassis, for example, is probably double the torsional stiffness of the MK. You won't notice this in everyday driving but you will on the track.
