Okay guys - date ideas - Cornwall/Devon.....
Discussion
All is very well with my current object of affection but i'm stuck as to an idea for something to do wednesday daytime. We've done lunch/dinner/drinks a few times now so i'm trying to think of something fun to do - i've impressed with everything we've done so far so i've got to live up to it but i'm stuck. We've done the zoo which was good and I did think about ice skating in Plymouth but looking at the website i think it's shut so that's out.
Any other ideas guys and (perhaps more importantly) girls? I'm based in (southwesternmost) Cornwall btw.
Cheers,
Rob.:)

How about
1. The Eden Project
2 Driving to Wadebridge, hire bikes (or a tandem if you're brave) and going along the Camel trail to Padstow and a nice lunch in one of the Stein eateries
3 Stroll around St Ives, lunch and a look at the Tate St Ives.

Some nice ideas there! The Tate is quite interesting as i've actually never been. What about a walk around this place... www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-vh/w-visits/w-findaplace/w-lanhydrock.htm After seeing Pride and Prejudice yesterday it might be quite fitting, no?
Cheers,
Rob.

I was going to suggest some National Truss places , but they aren't everyones cup of tea.Haven't been to Lanhydrock for years but worth a visit especially if the weather isn't so good.
If it's nice you could go to Tintagel and take a stroll down to the Castle, but if you're thinking of doing that the best idea is to park in the village and walk up to the Church on the cliffs (go down the steep road next to the Cornishman pub). When you get to the church walk clockwise around the outside of the graveyard and walk down the cliff path towards the land side of the Castle. Much nicer than going down the official Castle path/road which is the one the Land Rover uses.

Paul

Lanhydrock (sp?) is nice, and if you're into that sort of thing, the Lost Gardens at Heligan are worth a look...
Eden project would get my 1st vote though, a good day out
Lost Gardens are fantastic.
Eden project is fantastic for about thirty seconds as you go in and say "
me" at the size of the domes. After that its filled with some of the worst "right-on" hippie-shit I've read in years. Never again.
I'm actually going back to Cornwall for a week's break in late October - there's loads of brilliant things to do. But I certainly don't rate the Eden project as one of them...

What about a boat trip to the Isles of Scilly...
I live in Penzance so it's very local! To be honest with the weather being as dodgy as it has been this last week it wouldn't be much fun on the Scillonian to be honest.
Is the Lost Gardens alright if it's a wet day or is it pointless unless it's sunny?
Cheers,
Rob.
Depends if you like looking round gardens in the wet lol ! From memory, there wasn't anywhere you could dive in for cover, although things may have changed. I guess that's where the Eden Project wins....if it does rain, then the Domes will keep you dry....then nip down to Charlestown for a bite to eat at one of the pubs....but if you're trying to impress a lady...steer clear of St Austell.

Been there in both. Yes, of course, its better if its sunny. After all, its all outside. Personally I can enjoy these things so long as it isn't truly bucketing down...
If its going to be wet I'd ask your lady if she'd like to go and explain you wanted to let her choose due to the weather - and provide an indoor, wet-weather alternative.
How to come across as sensitive, artistic, considerate and thoughtful in one easy lesson. Just make sure you keep it up later!
