Driving adjustment

I am keen to get a Cimaera but of the couple I have driven I have struggled to reach the pedals, the clutch being the worst culprit.

I'm not what I'd consider a short arse 5'8, and have heard the pedals can be re-positioned.

Can someone confirm if this is true and if so what's involved?

Hi,

Yes the clutch and brake pedals on mine are on threads and can be wound in/out. The accelerator had to be physically bent. B.T.W @ 5ft 6 not a problem with driving position.

Earlier Chimaeras (like my '95) didn't all have adjustable throttles, although the brake and clutch are, by unscrewing and repositioning.
There is a way by moving the position of the accelerator mounting plate, of advancing the throttle pedal, but I've heard from others on this forum that this is not always reliable.
However, Leven have a set of fully adjustable pedals for about £120. I've got these (even though I'm 6ft tall - maybe stumpy legs!) and they are fantastic. Also fill your footwell with lovely alloy.
Beware, they are a complete pain in the a**e to fit unless you're an Oompah Loompah (took me 2 hours with roof off and feet in the air, upside down on seat)

Send Rooster (Gill Lee) an e-mail as shes had a few bits and pieces done to her drivers seat. She's 5'2" and has had pedal extensions, seat runners lengthened and seat raised so she fits. How tall are you by the way?
The pedals do have a small amount of adjustment from standard so may be worth trying that first of all, sure a dealer would help you out on that one. Shame you won't be on the Northants run on the 9th otherwise you could try mine out - my clutch pedal in particular is slightly higher than most, or Roos if i can persuade her to come.
Thought you were after a Tuscan anyway??

I'm 5 ft 7-8.

The Tuscan adventure has been postoned, mainly due to being too young and too ripped off in insurance! Also I think financially I'd best be a little more reasonable at the mo. Besides it was the Chimaera which really started my TVR passion when they came out. I'm keeping my current baby still though, she's too good to lose! Will also make a cool driveway

It's just so gutting the run on the 9th clashes with pre-booked plans. I'm kinda considering bailing out on the bikes but I'd then be shafting my mates. Dilemmas dilemmas... Always willing to have any other meet ups of course!

Leven's adjustable pedals maybe an option worth considering, thanks for the tip!

They will have the added advantage of getting you onto those funfair rides to which you have previously been refused admission.

I'm considerably shorter than you and I have no real problems. I did find it offputting when test driving the car, the pedals do feel a long way away and I felt as if I was lying on the floor trying to get at them, however I quickly got used to it and really don't have problems at all. It's probably got a lot to do with moving from a Punto (!) to a Chimaera - it was bound to feel very different. BTW I'm a short-a*sed bloke with stumpy appendages so you should be OK. Don't let it put you off buying a TVR.

Maybe a longer drive is just what I need. We'll see. I'm quite certain I'll purchase one so there will be a solution to the issue somewhere!

My other half is only 5'1" and she can drive it.....Well, with a pillow behind her back.
