This probably seems like a really daft question but:

My second hand Elise is due any time now, however its got a Bell & Coleville sports exhaust on it. This might seem like a dumb idea but does this really help it go any better?

It seems to me to just be really noisy...

I can get the standard one retrofited if need be.

Should I change it or not?

The "normal" B&C sports exhaust is not as loud as a Janspeed, and doesn't have a booming sensation at motorway speeds (unless the car has been de-catted or has altered induction). I think B&C also put out a few really noisy versions.

The standard Lotus exhaust sounds pathetic. Keep the B&C version. It should last longer anyway.

It makes the engine slightly more free-flowing, but there is minimal (if any) power upgrade.
