I am currently looking for a cheap runaround after selling my previous car. The car I really want is too expensive at moment so want something to just knock about in for now.

I have been looking on the market and everything is really expensive coupled by the amount of rubbish kicking about.

One car I have been looking at which might be a disaster is a MK2 Peugeot 308 16 plate. Looks to have a good history and it’s under £5k so that’s okay. What’s your thoughts ?

Any other suggestions ?

My suggestion would be to give some details about what you want and what you need the car to do.

I suggest you take a look at the most care free thread on PH's 'joy of running a shed' and ask away in there - we drive all sorts of metal, all on usually very strict budgets and many of us win at it....I think.

£5k budget in there is alot of money to spend on a cheap car, so you will be in good company on that thread biggrin

I'd recommend doing some research on the reliability of the specific engine fitted to the 308 you're considering.
