I found this whilst furtling on the beach earlier on. I first thought it was quartz but could be glass and it has a chalky core. No idea what is is, tried image searching and googling various things like fuses and detonators to no avail. Anyone got any ideas please?

That's a belemnite. The fossilised remains of something that looked a lot like a squid.

So it is! I thought it looked somewhat man-made due to the chalky core but you're absolutely right, thanks for the info. Chuffed with the find now, I'll have another mooch round the same beach tonight and see if I turn up any more.

Daft thing is I've been a little bit into fossils all my life but always picked up stuff like Ammonites, Gryphaea, Chlamys etc usually in sedimentary rock so didn't consider a translucent tube to be a possible fossil.

Orange fruit pastel extrusion before the central retaining pin has been removed and it's been chopped into individual pastels.

Love Cola Cubes, me.

Probably why I have more amalgam than enamel!
