Ants Nest - advice
Discussion
The soil is where they dig out - the spoil. You may have a lot of ants and eggs underground.
You really need to make sure that all the eggs are destroyed and ants are killed off.
I had a much smaller infestation which I poured boiling water on first and then when dry I used ant powder.
Otherwise a pest controller.
Best of luck. Ants are an important part of the ecosystem but a right pain in the wrong place.

WD40 is good for killing ants.
I have used it a couple of times and it works well.
Coincidentally I sprayed a small nest 2 days ago on the edge of a patio. I'll keep watch to check for any return.
First nest sprayed was in a garden wall about 7 years ago. No ants returned yet. I had tried ant powder on one in a mound in the garden but it was only partly successful.

I always enjoy uncovering an ants nest in the garden - it’s really fascinating watching them all panic and scurry about collecting eggs up to take them underground.
Having said that, there’s a nuisance one under my conservatory that bursts into life about this time each year. A few weeks ago I came home to millions of the buggers so I sprayed them all to death over a period of about a week. It was a massacre. Felt bad about it but I don’t want them in the house.
In any case, they stopped appearing after about the fifth day but I don’t doubt they’ll be back again next year.
