I’m in my early sixties and have never watched any of the star-wars films.
I do like a bit of sci-fi and always have, but Star-wars just passed me by.

Am I abnormal, or are there others like me?

Just watch Spaceballs and you'll get the jist of it.

Similar - mid forties - never watched them despite enjoying other sci fi a fair bit.

But something just never appealed with Star Wars for me

You're quite normal OP, they're children's movies so assuming you're an adult... .

I’ve only seen the last one with Natalie Portman when darth Vader gets his mask.

Tried watching a bit of the first (episode 3) before and it looked like an old episode of doctor who. Couldn’t be bothered with it. I have seen all the start trek films though.

Almost 50 here, I have watched all of the Star Wars films and enjoyed the original 3, less so the re-boots, however I've never managed a whole Harry Potter film (I've tried) and I've not watched any of Game of Thrones, not even attempted it!

I only watched the first one and have no idea how many Star Wars films followed. I've also never heard a Taylor Swift song nor do I know any of their titles.

Such claims to fame I consider life's bonuses.

I always thought I was late to the show as I didn't see Star Wars as a kid, it wasn't until the late 1980's when I was in my late teens that I spontaneously decided to buy Star Wars 1 on VHS to see what the fuss was all about. Id. just got a VHS player and colour TV in my bedroom so I wanted to binge on films I'd missed. I think I was drawn to the tape cover which said it was a 'remastered' version, possibly with Nicam stereo smile

I enjoyed SW1-3, but less so the rest.

Apparently it's a badge of honour these days to not have seen them.

Sadly I can't join the exclusive club as I saw Episode 4 which came out when I was entertaining an overseas client who was a big fan and was in the UK on the opening night.

They're picky over who they award the badges to and it seems seeing one in the line of duty still excludes you from joining.

My appeal is still pending.

That's good then, I have never seen any of them. I can remember when the first one was released, me and some mates were due to go and see it but I got a cold and decided sneezing all through a film would not be fair on the other people there and stayed at home. Never bothered to see any of the others.

But then there are loads of films everyone else has seen and I have not bothered to see.

Why are they children's movies?

I'm not a nerdy fan, but it just seems odd you would think them children's films. There are fairly standard good vs evil block buster movies, just set in space.

Because George Lucas said they were made for kids & defended the idea of a murderous father by citing the Hobbit. So, the guy that made them.

Seems strange to make films aimed at children with a blockbuster budget. I would say they are just films, aimed at a broad age range.

Same with Marvel. They are simple action films based on children's comics, however they are made to appeal to a mass audience.

I am only pointing out what the creator of Star Wars said & in light of their galactic success, it's hard to argue he didn't get it right.
