Just wondered, and so as I had a few hours to kill I downloaded my bank statements for the past year and here's where the money went........

Booze 3.26%
Food 5.48%
Going out 5.5%
Gifts 1.78%
House stuff 4.76%
Travel 6.37%
Holidays 8.56%
TAXES 64.29% !!!!

Of every £1.00 I spend 65p in some form or other is f**king government tax, I feel like I'm some kind of f**king surf or something. It wouldn't be so bad if they goverment weren't so patently appalling at wasting money. 65% TAX!!!

Those are really impressive figures - more on food than on housing. You must eat a lot or have a very small mortgage!

Don't have a mortgage, don't believe in being in debt. The house stuff was my Mrs out buying various curtains, covers, wicker and god knows what else.

It is hard buying properties at the moment without Mortages daft people want silly money I was offered two shops the other day both with 5 bed living accomadation one at £380k and the other at £260k.

The really strange thing is that the shop that was for sale at £260k has a better profit margin and more potential.

Never had one. Worked hard, saved hard, bought. I realise that this route is no longer open to anyone under the age of 35 these days given the rate of house price inflation. Seems wrong to me, in alot of ways I can understand why young people say f*uckit and max the credit card enjoying themselves they don't have a hope in hell of saving up for a deposit let alone a house.

Meanwhile the goverment does things like waste £3bn on early start centres in deprived areas ( to raise reading standards ) and when a independant study shows after 5 years that there is NO difference between the funded and control areas.....they announce a 5 fold increase in the number of centres. That's some poor buggers potential savings they are spending!

Yup, and what glorious things do we get provided with.

Police that never turn up to "smaller" problems like vandalism etc, hospitals with huge queues for operations and MRSA on the wards, thankfully fire brigade is still effective!
Then doctors just fob you off with painkillers and wait 10 days for ANY problem it seems.
Roads are shafted with holes, no plod around on the road so lots of drunk, drugged up, dangerous scrote drivers let loose.
Then we have our freedoms taken away even more and more by a mentalist nanny state, intent on not allowing us to speak up about their useless ability to run the country!

So, for 65p in a pound, they are doing a SH1TE job of running the country on our behalf. Why do people put up with it?
I'm up for a big "peacefull" protest in London if 5 millions others are

just tried mine .quick estimates

food - 9.4%
council tax - 4%
car related ( ins, petrol servicing ) - 20%
insurances - 7%
Entertainment - 12%
household Bills 11%

as a % of my expenses ( not including income tax)tax runs at about 15% as IPT and a few energy taxs are 5%..

note to self... must spend more on cars...

have to agree, i'm probably one of the few (under 35) in my circle of friends w/out mortgage or credit card debt. am i happier than any of them? to be honest - not really. they just spend exactly what they earn!

Well I had open chest surgery recently and despite all the fancy talk from the anaesthetist what I got in terms of post-operative pain relief consisted of two paracetamols every 6 hours for two weeks.
To be fair, although at times it hurt quite a bit and difficulty sleeping, on balance glad didn't get any mind altering drugs.

Had my appendix out a couple of months ago - needed pain relief and requested paracetamol (pretty harmless in the great scheme of things). Anyway, doctors insisted on "proper" pain relief and gave me ultra-strong morphine etc.....

It WAS mind altering, as well heart rate, breathing rate and made me pass out....! Serious stuff, I obviously have a problem with morphine based drugs! Lo and behold, back on the paracetamol once it had worn off. Discomfort - yes, on planet earth - yes. But I personally wanted to be alive and not tripping on something else.....like you say, mind altering drugs arent necessarily the way forward.....!??!?!

Is that Morphine as in the straight cousin of Heroin?

Friend of mine who got loaded on it in hospital said it was like being a cat, asleep in a ball in a beam of sunlight in a darkened room. Days could have passed for all he knew.

not quite... but will be when jabba gets his bulldozer plan into action properly and crushes all the little people out their terraces

in many parts of the country - lancashire especially there are plenty of homes for £30-100k yet this isnt good enough and the goverment through pathfinder schemes in stafford, liverpool, oldham, salford, burnley, rossendale, newcastle, hull are attempting to throw people out of their houses so the streets can be bulldozed to allow developers in to build executives homes to bring the ave house prices in the area up...

indeed the report on the situation defending the demolision plans in our area states '(the) area suffers from an abundance of affordable homes, though it is unclear wiether they are affordable to the local population'

average wages is unclear as with all averages, those earning mega bucks bring the average wage point up above a true figure (from that econamy webpage some one put up yesterday) with average wages being 17-20k rather than the gov. spouted stat of about 24k

I think the median wage is around £16-17k, somewhat less than the average £24k

Petrol?

Not quite sure what he's referring to there. Petrol is part of what I spent on transport though.
