These things must exist due to the offroad market and off grids etc but I'm struggling to find what I'm wanting which is a jump starter that can sit on the shelf in the garage but then be slung in the boot and used to power air pumps, lighting, phones etc.

Can anyone point me in the direction as to where to look at which brands are considered reputable? TIA

I've used mine to jump my V8's (4.2 and 4.8).

If you scroll down a bit on that link, there are lots of alternatives.

If shopping around, do make sure you buy a pack that has the 'woof' (CCA) to crank over a V8. I can report that the one I linked to jumped my Range Rover many times without a problem.

I've got a Noco GB150 3000A jump pack and it's been faultless. It started my V8 effortlessly after it's winter slumber, and can be used as a power bank. There's a torch built in too, great bit of kit.

but no air pump. I suspect when one of the Chinese brands adds this feature it may well end up being unreliable though.
so, for me it's 2 units. Ring do a good cordless tyre pump range.
a bit of a faff but I try to keep Lithium batteries at 75% for longevity. takes management but otherwise they might not be there when you need them

I've used the Halfords one for 3L engines on my old Cayenne (4.8L, 12:1 compression). Only cost about £60.

After it has jump started a car it will need recharging to guarantee another jump start. But otherwise it will have plenty of juice left to charge phones and it has a torch. It only has a USB output no I'm not sure about an air pump.

ETA these lithium ones are amazingly compact compared to the old school jump starters!

The OP said he's looking for one to power an air pump, so 2 units is the plan anyway by the look of it.

I've used this to start the Griff 5.0lt and it worked even after sitting on the shelf for 3 months.
Designed for the US market with larger engine sizes.
