If it’s your first EV, go for the Tesla.
There is nothing significantly better about the Seal as a car. Yes, the AWD is very quick at under 4 seconds to 60 but has a lower top speed and the Tesla isn’t exactly a slouch. The boot on the Seal is quite small.
The Tesla is more efficient so will go further despite a smaller battery, especially at motorway speeds and the Tesla also charges faster.
Whilst Tesla service isn’t perfect, it’s far more established than BYD. I’d be more confident getting a part for a Model 3 than a Seal.
The supercharger network is still a major benefit - the ability to just rock up and plug in without faffing with an app and be confident you’ll get a quick charge is not to be underestimated. Yes, many sites have been opened up but the motorway ones remain largely Tesla only. The integration between the car and the charging network just makes things so much easier - just put your round trip in the nav and it’ll tell you where to charge based on live availability data from the charging stations. It’s very clever and it just works.
