Moments you think it’s Martin talking.

I wonder if he will be an F1 commentator for Sky in the next few years.

Got to agree, without be too rude but its rare that nepotism works out so well.

A good addittion to the commentating team. Can see him moving up to F1. His father is already doing less Grand Prix every year.

Give him the acid test of a grid walk smile

Definitely think he mimics his dad’s style - in a good way.
I know he’s raced, but could he ever have the qualifications to take over MB’s role in F1 ?

Replacing a retiring Martin and alongside Harry Benjamin who replaces the fired Croft.

or better still get rid of the grid walk - full of vacuous celebs who are up their own backsides.

The dream.

I'm sure Martin doing less and less can only lead to an opportunity for Alex.

Really enjoyed his Appendix K Mini Cooper S build on YouTube too.

Like Alex like all posters above. I like MBs style of commentary too, and it’s hard not to compare when listening to Alex speaking, so similar.

I think MB will ensure that his son is lined up as soon as he moves on. Before then we may even get 2 Brundles on the supporting commentary (on a one-off basis). That would be fun.

I hope to God, if he is promoted to F1 commentary, that it's for F1TV and not for the tabloid "it's all about the show" Sky team.

Mind you, if they got shot of Croft, Patrick, Schiff, and Lazenby, then he and Harry Benjamin together, would make a great team. Big 'if' though.

Been listening to him for years in the support races, as he's getting older he sounds ever more like his Dad!

It seems a no brainer that he's well on his way to eventually replacing his Dad, and there's a good chance half the audience won't even notice.

But has that role not normally been for an ex-F1 driver ?

I guess there's not normally a son of a current much admired commentators waiting in the wings..

Former F1 drivers make a lot of sense for their insight, but Alex isn't short of that at all, I doubt there's anything his dad knows that he doesn't. He could if course be partnered with a former F1 driver - they dynamic doesn't have to be the same as Martin + Croft.

Do you listen to him?
