Not wanting to waste a return ticket that I ended up using, I stuck it on ebay. Hell, someone might use it, right?

Wrong.

I've just read section 129.

Exciting it is not. I also failed to spot the "Once purchased you cannot resell a ticket should you choose not to use it"

Anybody know anything about this area? I'm bemused...

Yeah, a friend had similar problems. Don't think there is much that can be done about it.

Have you considered selling an envelope which may () contain the said train tickets?

AFAIK eBay has no policy against selling envelopes - they didn't a couple of years ago when I sold one which contained tickets to the UEFA Cup Final.

Airlines are fussy now about ticket transfers as well.

My airline ticket is strictly non-transferable. Daft but true.

I did however manager to sell a part-used book of Humber Bridge tickets on eBay but they are not personal.
