Hi all,

I'm off to Paris next month with the better half. We are staying here: https://www.grandhoteldupalaisroyal.com/en/

It's been many years since I last visited Paris and as it's a trip without the kids, can anyone suggest some great authentic French restaurants that we can pre book please?

Really not necessary to pre book, Parisians are not there in August and probably any top restaurant will be in full tourist mode. From your location just wander along the South bank and you can't go wrong.

Alternatively this was very good last year, with a heck of a view:

I'm just sceptical of booking up "something special" these days, because service is so sketchy everywhere (including Paris) you're setting up for disappointment.

Chez Georges – 1, rue du Mail, 75002
Eaten there dozens of times, always enjoyed it.

Auberge Bressane. Great wines, especially Burgundy.

If you like wines and have eaten at Chez Georges you can wander over the road to https://parisjetaime.com/eng/culture/galerie-vivie...
Go to the Legrande wine store and drink wines at retail prices.

Actually what sort of budget do have before we list further options?

Last ate there back in 1989. Yes a wonderful view, can’t remember the food but we drank a lot of Sancerre.

I'd always recommend SAVY for dinner; not fancy, not a secret, and can *sometimes* feel a little bit "touristique", but the food is always very good classic stuff. Have the lamb, and the rum baba, speak a little French, and don't let them put you in the back with the Americans.

For lunch, Allard (across the river, so if you only have 48 hours maybe not, unless you'd planned to go over there). It's owned by Alain Ducasse but despite that it's very relaxed and again an excellent classic French menu.

I found https://restaurant-chez-mamy.fr/fr pretty good last time we were in Paris.

I went there a few years ago and it was really good. Food was good, wine was good, and the view of the Eiffel Tower was spectacular.

Many thanks,

These look like good options.

With regards to budget I was set on a Michelin star style of place and budget however I don't want to be in a clinical room that doesn't feel like we are in Paris too!

Obviously the restaurant with the view of the tower helps !
