Can't see any other threads on this. I'm not massively into their seats but I'm surprised they've gone bust.

Will one of the manufacturers buy them out now and then licence them.

Private Equity though, so the cynical side of me expects this to be financial shenanigans rather than the business not being viable

Not really surprised, very hard to prove seats are a direct copy and not in house designed, so why buy, or pay to design, when you can make your own.

Not with build cost factors these days.

Thanks for posting this. I wasn't aware.

Very much a legend in the industry.

They've always been my favourite seats, even though I've only actually had one car with them in it(a 1992 Escort RS2000). I also think they are a really aesthetically pleasing seat just to look at as well.

Ineos fit Recaros in the Grenadier. I wonder if they will buy the patent and bring it in-house.

They also make a lot of aircraft seats so it may be that the car business will survive and not the aviation bit or vice versa

Sad to see, it was an iconic brand.

I had them in my Manta GTE (and my Astra GTE IIRC). When most standard cars had terrible seats Recaros were a real step up.

Link says sports seat manufacturer.

Recaro Holdings which owns the aviation section is separate from the sports seat company.

Betcha they sell the factory for housing land & license the brand name.

Recaro sports wear in Sports Direct made in China in 5 years time.

Real sad news, I hope they find a buyer and can carry on. I've had several cars fitted with Recaros over the years, and they've always been good looking, durable and comfortable. Very much the default choice when it comes to automotive seats.

I agree

All the vauxhall/opel cars really benefited from the Recaro's in the sporty models. So much better than the standard seats in the rest of the ranges.

Loved my Manta's and Astra's.

I had proper Recaros in my 635CSi. Not BMW sports seats (which were Recaro pattern but made in house) but actual Recaro with a little chassis plate on the frame.

Always felt quite special.

Black fishnets in my Mk2 RS2000...lovely seats, would have had the Recaro child seats 20 odd years ago too but a bit too expensive compared to the rivals for what they were in the end.

Genuinely surprised they've gone but note they aren't the go to manufacturer they once were, I've got Sabelt in my 595 as have a few other marques. Guess they now have the market that was once Recaro's territory from my youth.

I always thought they'd be bought by Ford, given the association with Ford's sports models.
