Alloy Wheel repairs after pothole damage advise

Hi
I damaged 2 tyres and 2 alloy wheels on a pothole and claimed of the insurance company to get them replace and 2 new tyres.

I have recently found out that the garage have refurbished them after i was told they had been replaced also the insurance company said they had been replaced.

The car had good year tyres on it all round as per the manufactures specifications and when I got it back 3 of the tyres were goodyear EfficientGrip and one tyre on the front was continental eco contact 6. I was told by Kwickfit that the tyres should not be mixed matched on the same axel not sure if both tyres are radial or crossply.

When a tyre was fitted as it had a puncture it also would not hold pressure and additional sealant was added.

Can not post pics or put links in so not sure how to show you the damage caused and the repair.

Insurance company want to close my complaint but I am not happy as Kwikfit have informed me that the alloys are dangerous

Can anyone advise where to go next and if I am right in being dissatisfied? and if you agree where should I go next as it would of been cheaper for me to get the alloys repaired than go through the insurance company.

The tyres are radials. No normal tyre these days is a cross ply, only some slicks and stuff put on true classics. It's a bit crap that they haven't replaced the tyres with matching ones all round but unless it's something particularly special or with a complex 4wd system that might get upset then if all the tyres meet the required specification they'll be fine. Good Year and Continental are both premium brands.

My first advice would be go somewhere other than Kwikfit for proper advice as to the condition, they're not well known for their good, informed advice. Either a good local independent tyre place or ideally a trusted local wheel refurb place. Get their opinion on the condition of the wheels and go from there.

If the insurers think they have been replaced and the paperwork you have from the repairers are that they replaced them then if they have just done a refurb then it's fraud and the insurance company will definitely want a word with them.
