I've just been rewatching the Top Gear James Bond Car piece and it got me thinking;
If you wanted to build a replica of a Toyota 2000GT Convertible, as seen in the bond film, what would you use?

What car has the same wheelbase/dimensions as the Toyota? So if you wanted you have a coachbuilt body put on top, and a specially built interior, it would look "right"

Just to point out, I have a serious dislike of bond but I do think the 2000GT Convertible is one of the prettiest cars in the world. I also have nowhere near the funds, skills or space to actually build one, it is a purely hypothetical question.

Try a Suzuki Cappucino or a Honda Beat to make a miniature GT2000. I once read the Bond convertible was produced because Sean Connery was too large to fit in the coupe.

Elan plus 2. A big advantage is the backbone chassis and fully independent suspension. Body off and fibreglass replica 2000gt body on

Bonds car was a coupe with the roof cut off, how could it have different wheelbase?
