Making my car seat more comfortable - it's torture!

OK, so my wife has a Tiguan. I find it unbelievably comfortable. I can drive it 8 hours in one hit and leap out like a young(ish) gazelle.
I've got an A4. It's bloody torture after 1 hour behind the wheel. I've adjusted the seat every which way, and nothing works. I'm at my wits' end. Maybe it's something to do with the construction of the seat? I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck with aftermarket cushions like this:

or can recommend me something else? I don't care if it makes me look like a bellend or a 70s minicab driver.
Of course it could be that the problem is the lower driving position with legs more out in front, in which case I'm screwed!

It’s a good question. I’ve suffered sciatica now for a number of years, caused apparently by my wallet trapping a nerve in my leg. Basically, the seats were quite firm and the wallet was causing me to sit badly. Never had it in any car previously, but that was the fix.

ETA: I'm not suggesting this is the cause of your problem, but I was quite surprised that it cured mine, and I never would have thought of it myself.
I've had 2 golf's and both had problems with the seats. I tried the grandad cushion which worked but in my current one I just got extra padding added which helped. I don't know where you are but it was towards reading sorr of area. Might help you but you need to know what your actual problem is and it's good given you have a car to compare to
Worth checking whether the problem is you before spending on a cushion which might not work. I couldn't get comfortable in my Mondeo, really bad back pain after half an hour. Turns out it was me having torsion pelvis, not crap car seats.
Might be worth seeing a physio or chiropractor to check everything is in the right place. If it is then at least you'll have piece of mind and a massage for your money. Then get a new car!

Interested to see what ideas this thread throws up as just done a 22hr drive and found my seats uncomfortable after just a short time into the trip
Done the same length of drive many times before in other cars and even longer trips too but not had the same issue
Want to use my truck for long overland trips so the seats have to go. Other than sitting in a seat showroom for a day I've no idea what's important ie firmness, support, adjustment, position etc when trying out new seats

There are a bunch of different ways the seat might be causing discomfort.
eg. the various angles of the seat rest / back / headrest / lumbars, or the actual density of the foam.
So you'd need to be way more specific about exactly where you feel discomfort if you've any hope of a useful answer here.
FWIW the last Audi I owned was utterly dire for comfort due to the ridiculous non-adjustable angle of the headrest, combined with the silly hard suspension which was probably never tested on UK roads.
On the other hand, I've adapted a flimsy VW Polo seat with various memory foam lumbar inserts into something totally comfortable for very long journeys (combined with cruise control and low pressure in the tyres).
