Screenwash tube frustration

I'm sure lots of you will have guessed what I've done already (d'oh) but I've managed to separate the RH screenwash tube where it passes through the panel at the base of the windscreen, and (as stated in the bible) the lower part of the tube has disappeared down inside the cavity somewhere. :byebye:

The bible suggests removing the dash to make an access panel to retrieve it, but on the LHS of my car somebody has previously drilled a 1" hole through the bulkhead from the engine side just under the wiper (now blanked with a grommet), presumably for the same problem.

Has anybody successfully drilled a hole through from the engine side to retrieve the RH screenwash tube??

Removing the bonnet catch would offer a suitably accessible surface, but I don't want to unbolt that (yet) without being sure I won't lose a couple of nuts on the back of that too..... Does anyone know if there are caged nuts fitted to the back of it?

Yes did the same when I had a Griff. I removed the bonnet latch, no problems with captive nuts etc. then drilled a 1" hole with a hole saw inbetween the holes to attach the latch. If your's is the same as mine the panel slopes back at the bottom allowing a hole to be cut through the flat peice but leaving a hinge of fibreglass where it slopes away. Bend back the flap using a peice of wire through the hole saw pilot hole and you have enough access to fish the pipe out. When you've got it the flap will spring back allowing you to mastic arround the hole. Refitting the latch conceals the hole and it's there for the next time you lose your pipe.
Sounds complicated but you'll see what I mean if you remove the latch.

Oh dear!. I would say whilst you are fiddling around there switch to the Leven Wiper kit. Ace bit of kit

You still need the pipe back before you can fit the kit though .

Yes, thanks guys - cut myself an access panel behind the bonnet latch and fished the pipe out easy peasy. Didn't want to take the latch off until being sure there were no nuts to drop off the back of it. You can't see the cut at all when the latch is back, which is just as well because I only had white silicon sealant to seal it with afterwards....

Have read all the positive comments on the Leven kit too - will get one next week me thinks.
