Re-sealing the headlight access panels

Quick question - am just about to fit the Modwise brighter lights kit, and am upgrading the headlight bulbs at the same time.

What should I use to re-seal the access panel in the wheel-arch? I use Sikaflex extensively around the car, but I reckon it's so damn sticky that if I used it in the wheel arch, I'd never get the panel off again!

Any suggestions?

Cheap, bog-standard black silicone. It works fantastically as a sealant, but not so well as glue, so you can get the things off again!

Grease the mounting face of the wheel arch, then use sikaflex/silicon as normal. Next time you remove the panel it will come away cleanly (maybe with a bit of help from a screwdriver) and you should be able to refit it without having to reseal it - although a bit more grease to ensure the seal's airtight wouldn't hurt.
