For my next vehicle, I want something a bit hardcore, a bit raw, but also something affordable. Hence why, along with a couple of mates, I've been seriously looking at buying a motorbike recently. However, the time element of getting my license, the fact that I might very well be crap at riding a bike, and the fact that I've always wanted a '7', are pushing me towards something like an MK Indy.

So, question one, how difficult is it to convert a car powered chassis to one capable of accepting bike power? The thought of a Pinto engine just doesn't appeal to me, and the costs of tuning something like a Zetec or an XE engine are beyond me at the moment. An instant 150bhp with a nice screaming redline, does appeal to me. However, my budget will only permit me to buy a pinto engined car, and then do the conversion myself.

Secondly, I have no garage, due to it being taken up with my Dad's car. Does anybody have any idea how much it would be to rent a place to store the car? Doesn't have to be fancy, just somewhere dry and reasonably secure

To the second question, depends where you live and the availability of rentable garage space, supply and demand.

Best thing to try would be the local yellow pages.

you would need to be pretty clued up in some welding and fabrication as the engine and gearbox mounting arrangements are totally different
