We've rented a house and car in Omis for two weeks - myself, wife and 3 teenagers. Plan is to do a day trip / activity every second day or so.

So far I've earmarked:

Blue Lagoon / blue caves boat tour
Walking tours in Split and Dubrovnik
A zipline experience in Dubrovnik
Split football match

Anyone else recently visited and had any recommendations?

Thanks

Hvar island, place is lovely.
I’d also recommend the Croatian Venice - Trogir.
And the place with the lakes, streams, waterfalls - Plitvice.

One of the boat trips leaves from Trojir so plan on looking round there as well. Just seen the waterfall place so will add that to the list. Thanks

We've been a few times now and have always enjoyed a bit of island hopping on the ferries.
Loads of choice from Split.

Went last year and the highlight was Krka national park, amazing place that can be accessed via Trogir on a boat.

It's Krka National park, absolutely amazing place but does get very busy.

Mount Biokovo,

You can basically drive to the summit and i believe there is a skywalk up there now (wasn't when i went in 2019). It wasn't particularly touristy back then either but worth the trip.

It's not to far from Split. We actually started in Dubrovnik and drove to Split so stopped in Bosnia for lunch then drove up Biokovo.

Trogir to Krka on a boat....that's a long way, how long did that take?!

I've done Vodice to Krka on a boat and that took longer than was pleasant in mid 30's temperature smile

Krka National Park is well worth a visit. From Omis you would need to drive direct to Krka. Plitvice is also stunning but a long way from Omis.

We live on Hvar for half the year. Recommend it for a day trip.

Also islands of vis and brac.

Krka worth a visit, as are plitvice lakes.

Its honestly all good and remains one of our favourite ever holidays with two young teens

We flew into Split and had a wonderful four nights there before getting the ferry to Hvar which was even better
Our accomodation was 10 minutes walk from the town and everything was easily accessible

Hvar has everything from hippy hostels to 100m yachts in the harbour with all parties catered for with bars and restaurants and no hassle whatsoever

Our rental didnt have a pool however the kids trotted to the end of the road when they fancied a swim and dived off the harbour
Im pretty risk averse but was more than happy to drink beer on the balcony whilst they did it

We booked an all day rib trip from Hvar from the top hit on Tripadvisor (it was in 2017 so I wont rec) which was utterly fantastic
Secret caves, WW2 MTB lairs, coasteering jumps, hidden beaches and the blue lagoon

Blue Lagoon was a top tip
Tours will take you there but you have to queue for their own boat and its bl00dy busy
Our guy knew this and arrived just before it closed when everyone had gone home and we had the place to ourselves

Enjoy - its a magical place

Just came back from two weeks there. Fantastic country. We drive the coast road from Pula to Dubrovnik; from Split to Dubrovnik the road is incredible.

Was a little underwhelmed by Split, preferred Trogir. Krka good but at €40 a head it’s pretty expensive; all the boat trips are extra too.

Not convinced Dubrovnik is a day trip from Omis, that’s got to be nearly three hours each way.

In the last few days of a fortnight in Rovinj (Monte Mulini).

Just excellent.

I spent over a week in Croatia lately, near Zadar. Highlights were swimming in pristine rivers with my wife and kids… lowlight was visiting a massively overcrowded national park.

We did Zagreb->Pula->Plitvice->Zagreb which doesn't really help you location wise but I can also add as others have that Croatia is still the one holiday my children always talk about and want to watch the holiday video! A wonderful place. Highlights:

- Rovinj
- Drive down the E65 via Rijeka was simply amazing
- Plitvice National Park - busy but worth it and the rural areas are so different to the coast
- Zagreb was cool

I am just back from 17 amazing nights in Croatia!!

Travelled around via ferry to Split, Brac(Bol), Makarska, Dubrovnik & Cavtat.

What an adventure. Highlights included the Krka national park, Tuk tuking around Split, chilling in Brac!

Overall all what a beautiful country, amazing history, great culture and the Croats are wonderful people!

Just came back from there, by far the best place visited and absolutely fell in love. Never wanted to return.
