Would you believe it.....

When I opened the door the other day I lent against the cig. lighter and it went straight into the door interior! I know that there's 4 bolts at the bottom of the door once I've removed the speaker however I still can remove the interior door cover to replace it. Any suggestions?

If it has carpeted door panels, there will also be about half a dozen self tapping screws buried in the carpet pile.

Is that standard? Everyone I've heard describe removing the door panel only mentions the four bolts.

there are 4 bolts to get off the surround with the leather trim on ( which the fag lighter is in ) and them a f/glass panel with carpet on is self-tappered to the door.

You mentioned the 4 bolts and then the door cover should come off, however I'm having no luck!! I remove the 4 bolts and it's still tight. I've felt around inside and can't find anything else. Is there anything special on a '97 model? I'm planning to have another go tomorrow afternoon so I'll let you know. Any other suggestions are welcome.

I took the driver's door panel off mine only today...

1) A self-tapper behind the ashtray.
2) Three 10mm nuts accessed via the speaker hole. One of them requires you to put your whole forearm inside the door.
3) Leather/vinyl covered part will lift out then upwards.
4) Three or four self-tappers holding the carpet panel on.

That should be it ! FWIW mine's a '96 4.0.

Cheers for the info. Finally got mine off at the weekend - took about 10 minutes in All. How when I went to buy the cig lighter they were sold out!!!!
