Recommend a Dog-Friendly Beech

Would like to take my dog to the beach if the weather allows it, but I'm hearing not all locations will allow dogs before a certain time.

Was looking at Camber Sands/Leigh-on-Sea/Clacton areas.

Any recommendations (or info) on taking a (well behaved and friendly) dog to the beach?

If someone could recommend beaches without menacing and irritating dogs that would be great.

A couple of years ago I witnessed a vicious attack on a beach just outside Abersoch by an Alsatian on a lady from South America who was holidaying here. The ladies arm was not in a good state.

Dopey owner just said ‘he’s never done that before’.

If you are considering the Essex coast then Mersea Island has dog friendly beaches in the west and also at Cudmore Grove in the east.

Not your target area but many of the beaches in Lincolnshire are dog friendly. The area of coast around Anderby Creek is spectacular with only limited areas that don't allow dogs.

Thanks for the suggestions, all of which look great. Anderby Creek looks like it will need a weekend to fully appreciate.

I've decided to take a trip down to Lancing. It's a bit of a busman's holiday to begin with; I have a customer with a 718 Cayman who was told by Ortoslaags that the windscreen will need replacing because the chip on it doesn't meet their repair criteria and will 'probably' crack if they attempted to fix it.



He's in the Hassocks area. Plenty of woodland area around there which will be a nice couple of hours walking in the cool shade. By then, the beaches will have cleared and Frank can get his feet wet hopefully... A 20-minute detour to give Doug's windscreen a stay of execution and the rest of the day belongs to Frank

I'm not sure about dogs but Ferring beach is far nicer than Lancing! The cafe used to be the excellent if you could get a space in the car park.

Lancing is a bit meh. The beaches West of Worthing are where to head, I used to live in Worthing (and Brighton), I'd avoid anything between Worthing and Brighton.

Frinton is nice (the south side of Walton pier) and dog friendly, as is The Naze, a bit further north of Walton. Just check tide times beforehand!

Based on my experience of dogs on beaches I hope Frank is permanently on a lead (by someone that can control him) and is muzzled.

Found a quiet part of the beach but people wanted to come over and see him. He's super friendly and doesn't wander far from my side. If he was the kind of dog that needed to be strapped and muzzled, I wouldn't be taking him to a public area.
