The wife and I after 5 years are finally getting 3 nights away from the kids for 3 nights and are struggling where to go.
The brief is 3-6 oct from Leeds Bradford on a direct flight to somewhere we are semi guaranteed some heat and sun rather than cool temps in the start of autumn.

We’ve found Corfu, Malaga and Faro to have the best flights for the price however I don’t know where to go in faro or corfu.

We would be either air bnb or a hotel but needs to be around £100 a night.

Does anyone have any suggestions for areas in corfu or Malaga that give a bit of a town or city vibe but also a place to relax by a beach and read a book for a day?

We’ve not been on holiday for over 7 years on our own so I’m a little lost as to where to start.

Thanks all

Corfu is likely to be warmer but I've never been

In faro, which I know a lot better, id not want to be too far from the airport given the length of stay, plenty of decent hotels/resorts in the Faro side of Albufiera (don't go to Albufiera, look for Vilamoura, Vale do Lobo, Quinta Do Lago which are far nicer)

I’d go Corfu. Weather likely to be better and coming to the end of the season so will be quieter yet everything still open. I’m not the biggest fan of the costas though. With 3 days you just want to be in one place.

Just had a quick look, this looks nice

I’d be tempted to stay in Kekira itself. Minimal transfer, plenty of f&b option, beaches close by at Mon repos or kontokali, Nolita and Venetian Well for dinner.

Malaga. It’s fantastic and there are many beaches in front of the city. A massive bonus is that isn’t full of British tourists at any time of the year unlike the other two options.

Malaga is hugely underrated. But don’t tell anyone.

This^^

Lots to see and do, easy to walk everywhere, lots of great restaurants, October temperatures in the mid 20’s… we love it.

As you're only going for 3 nights then Malaga 100%....Corfu is over 4 hours on the plane whilst Malaga is only a 2 hour flight, so as you're only going for a short period of time, maybe better to stick to the shorter flight.

Malaga is a beautiful little city. Lots of things to do and see, nice harbour, some nice restaurants (including a couple of Michelin star) and if you hire a car can travel to the beach resorts nearby like Marbella, Nerja, etc.

How about Barcelona? You have the best of both worlds there....a beach and a city.... plus it's a relatively cheap place.

Another vote for Malaga but I'd also throw in thinking about somewhere on the train from Malaga airport - it's a great service and easy to navigate.

Torremolinos and Benalmadena are both less than 20 mins away.

The last couples holiday I was on with the Mrs (though she was 7 months pregnant, so does it count as a couple or family?) was to Puerto Banus near Marbella, some lovely hotels in that area. Maybe worth a look?

Another vote for Malaga or somewhere nearby if you want beaches.

Thanks everyone!

We were leaning to Malaga although thought we might have been missing out on some other areas.

Will give it some more research.

I’d personally go for Faro as it’s a lovely place that’s maintained it’s authenticity and moreover the surrounding towns and villages especially if you venture inland are sublime.

Another vote for Faro, hire a car, get around some fantastic places along the coast and inland, great food too. Driving is not so bonkers as other parts of Europe biglaugh

Malaga 3hrs from Leeds Bradford. We all don't live in that there London smile
But still a decent flight time for 3 nights away.

I’d either fly to Faro and go to Vilamoura or Malaga then Fuengirola. Fuengirola is a bigger town and would be more busy. Both would be 20-30 mins from the airport so €30-€40 for a transfer.

Eh? Fuengirola isn't bigger then Malaga....plus it's a bit of a dump. Typical brit abroad location. I'd stick to Malaga.

Totally agree. It’s like flying into Alicante and getting the bus to Benidorm. Crazy.

Fair enough, I just thought it was a bit better than Benalmadena or Torrelominos
