I am trying to change the bathroom taps.

Ive turned off the stop cock under the kitchen sink and the bathroom sink taps are off but the Bath taps still work.

Is this normal? is there another stop tap for the bath ?

damn it why can't you edit the title I meant Plumbers. In my defence I is next to U

The taps will run until you've emptied the cold water tank and hot water tank (assuming you have either of these)

There maybe a tap on the exit of the cold water tank (bottom) and hot water tank (top) that you can turn off to avoid draining the tank

There is nothing worse than making a spelling mistake in the title, either this will die or you are going to get roasted.

Double checked for my own spelling

If there isn't a stop cock on the cold tank you'll need to tie the ball cock up to stop it re-filling.

Incidentally you isn't next to me cos I is on my own.

Inspector Clouseau's rules of speech
(How to speak Clouseauese)
Rule #1: Any word with a 'ah', 'oh', or 'oo' sound, you must add a short 'eh' sound before it.
Examples: bomb = "behm", phone = 'pheone', room = 'rheum'

Rule #2: Any word with a 'uh' sound, you must replace it with a 'ih' sound.
Ex. monkey = 'minkey.
Rule #3: Any word with a long 'ay' or 'ee' sound, replace it with a short 'ah' sound, but don't apply rule #1.
Ex. crazy = 'crahzy', repair = 'rahpair'.

Rule #4: For a past tense word ending with an 'ed', you must split the word in the wrong place or accent the wrong syllable.
Ex. solved = 'sol-ved', received = 'rah-ceived'.

Review: "Yeuw have rah-ceived a bimp". Can you see the application of rules #1,2,3 and 4?.
Rule #5: To reflect anger or dissatifaction with an object, animal or person, add the word "swine" before it.
Ex. 'swine' moat, 'swine' parrot, 'swine' maid.

Rule #6: If you are ever presented with information or facts you are unaware of, immediately respond as if you already had knowledge of it.
Ex. "Yes, I kneuw that... I kneuw that". (remember to apply rule #1 to the word 'know')

Rule #7: Any person who does not understand a word you are saying must be referred to as a fool or an idiot.
Ex. "Yes, a rheumm... that is what I have been saying you idiot!"

Rule #8: Any reference to Kato must include the word "yellow".
(Even though this may be considered politically incorrect, it was used affectionately)
Ex. "Kato my little 'yellow' friend, I'm 'heum!"'. (rule#1 again to the word 'home').

ok you plimbers

so I need to leave teh taps running to drain the tanks.

Ok next problem

the threads on the sink taps are larger so its not the plug and play job I thought it would be. (why is nothing ever simple like me)

sugestions?

True, but my way is harder and more interesting

A more useful tip is that you can also buy flexible hoses with built in stop cocks to allow the job to be done more easily the next time or to change a tap washer and avoid the need to modify the copper pipe if the new taps are slightly different sizes.

If you want to get technical, if it's in the basthroon it's a basin, not a sink

What sort of pipe is the going to the basin 15mm I guess. Get some tap connectors from the plimmers merchant, a short legth of pipe and 2 straight through connectors.

I use yorkshire fitting rather than capillary feed solder jobbies. Dead easy, clean the pipe add flux bung together heat up job done
