Yes I also thought it was very good, the right mix of history, engineering and flying sequences.

He appeared to make a good effort at the flying tasks he was put through. Interesting that the instructor stated the poor layout of the instruments in the cockpit, typical of the time I guess

Why didn’t I think of making a programme of the Lancaster, Hurricane and Vampire jet? All paid for by the film company, good strategy!

It was more of a flame thrower than a jet engine, but it was a good bit of fun.

I enjoyed that. Not a bad gig for a truck mechanic ! I like what Guy does on tv from his TT exploits, narrow boat fixing to this.

Yes he was a natural instructor I thought nothing would phase him I think, very professional and would be a good guy to get training from. Like most ex military pilots.

I enjoyed it. I used to service ejection seats on Sea Harriers in the Navy, always made my a**e twitch! I already knew about Whittle's first design being scoffed at, ridiculous. Guy building his own was entertaining too.

But I did learn something, Martin Baker have made all the UKs seat for donkeys year but I didn't know it was named after 2 people.

John Nichol's 'Eject, Eject!' is a good read, about the development of the idea, before it turns into a re-run of his Tornado/Gulf books, about those who were shot down and their escapades thereafter.

Looked like Guy did pretty much fly the Provost but got the impression he was more of a passenger in the Vampire.

Reckon he did quite a bit of the flying on the vampire, possibly not the landing...clearly quite experienced as he thought the stall was a piece of P compared to props in the trainer

Both aircraft side by sides for a reason I guess...

Good tv, you can feed off Guy's enthusiasm

I think he did do a lot of the flying, you do not sweat a lot unless you are working hard at flying the aircraft especially in the early stages of learning
