Any SIM enthusiasts on here ?
I have just had my SIM built and starting out with ACC and AC ... ACC seems more intuitive and straight forward, whereas AC seems more realistic and a while lot more depth.
Next step i want to do some online racing ... this can be done through either of teh above, or i may purchase iRacing as a few friends have that and swear by it ?
Any thoughts/views tips or advice ?
The combination of Tech and driving is something to behold re realism ... love it.

Yep been using AC for years and years now, mine is mega modded, something called 'content manager', CSP and also then you get full weather and day/night cycles.
I mod cars and some tracks too.

Do loads more, i'd say i use it more for modding than ever actually racing.
I did have iRacing and all other sims but AC can grad you and you end up never playing anything else, i'm over 4000 hours in AC...
Have fun!

Cool Alfas Kamov ^^

I've been sim racing since Geoff Crammond were a lad ;-) Even though I'm an old fart it's just something I've never grown out of. Earlier in the year I semi-retired and finally got round to building a proper sim rig which I am now addicted to and have to be careful about how many hours per week I spend on there.
These are the games that I stick to (although 90% of the time is iRacing).

If you want to give iRacing a try then now would be a good time to start. During a year they run 4x seasons which last 12 weeks each. In-between these seasons they have a 'week 13' break where the speed/safety ratings are turned off and the racing is more relaxed as there's no pressure so it's a good way to start. Next Tuesday (the 3rd Sept) a new week 13 begins as we are about to end Season 3. They are also introducing quite a lot of interesting new stuff such as Cadwell Park

If you join up you'll enter as a rookie which limits which series you can drive in but if you get your head down and drive carefully you can progress to your D licence pretty quickly. That then opens up a lot more options and then you can continue aiming at your licence upgrades all the way to the A licence.
I also recommend trying to focus on just one or two cars/series rather than hopping around too much. Get to learn the physics for one car and your laptimes should drop pretty quickly. For this season I focused on Formula Ford and put the time in with hotlapping/practising etc and I've ended up winning my division (1620 drivers) /flex
It's also a challenge to see how far you can progress your iRating. This season I've gone from 1.2k to 2.5k and still climbing but I'm starting to struggle in the top splits. There are some stupidly quick people on there. At least I have my age as an excuse
For next season I'm tempted to jump into the Lotus 49 race series as there's a good league run through a discord group but the car is an absolute beast and I'm not sure I'm up to it.
If you do go for iRacing, some software addons that I recommend.... Crew Chief (spotter), Racelabs (overlays), Trading Paints (liveries) and a telemetry app such as Track-Titan or Garage 61.

It depends on what floats your boat. If it's modding and driving lots of different cars/tracks then, like Kamov said, can't really beat AC with Content Manager but if it's online racing (which is what I focus on) then it really comes down to ACC or iRacing. Personally I think iRacing offers by far the best platform for physics, variety of race series and a fairly decent system for safety and speed ratings which ensures you don't have to endure too many numpties (although obviously it's not perfect). Very cool. Is that a Reaperware iFlag? I just got one, mounted it upside down, below the monitor
I really want to get on with AMS2, love the selection of cars/tracks on there but I really struggle to get the feel of what the car is doing on the limit. The 'stoopidchallenges' gang put me straight on some settings to reduce head motion etc which definitely helped with reducing the floatyness but I still feel that the car hasn't got enought weight. I tried boosting the FFB settings but the kerbs/track feedback is then way too strong. I checked the forum and there's a huuuge thread on FFB custom setting files so if I can muster the enthusiasm sometime then I'll have a go working through that.

Thanks for teh replies all - great to know that there are some fellow enthusiasts and some great input/advice already !
My plan is to focus on AC and ACC as i get use to SIM driving etc and then look into iRacing more (sure there will be lots of questions and week 13 advice is excellent) - i can also then keep the iracing specifically for me and not have ratings etc impacted by my boys playing !
Currently getting a little frustrated on ACC as need to get teh 3 star track awards (I have a good safety rating) to enter many of the online race events ... i think i am missing the definition of 4 clean laps ... i have done that at a decent pace (leading in AI races) and kept within track limits, however it appears they need to also have no under or oversteer, which seems a little crazy as i may use that to turn in occasionally - seems like i need a 6/10 drive with teh car not sliding for 4 laps ?
will give it another go tonight !
I have a track day at Brands GP next Friday - so will focus on there over teh weekend
They are awesome

There are some good guides about this on Youtube which are worth checking out. btw, if you're planning on racing in ACC check out https://lowfuelmotorsport.com/ if you haven't already.

Excellent. I did a Formula Ford track day there years ago and it was crazy good fun but I got red flagged for over revving the engine as they had a self imposed 4k rpm limit which was almost impossible to stick to when you were concentrating like crazy on not sliding off in the rain

iRacing have dropped a preview of Cadwell.
Looks fantastic (I edited my post to add the link). Apparently they have a new method for 3D scanning the track which includes the use of drones and it does seem to be a step up in detail. I hope the participation levels are enough for it to be a regular option. If you’re looking to venture in to the online stuff then definitely take a look at low fuel motorsport. They run a number of series on AC, ACC and RF2 including a Super Tourers series which I keep meaning to try. IRacing is the gold standard though and is where I spend 95% of my time. If you’re happy to wait a couple of months they run good Black Friday deals. Then it’s just grinding the licences for D24 in Jan
I’ve recently got in to BeamNG for single player stuff which is really fun (though little to no actual racing)

A good article on Richard Burns Rally which just turned 20 !

Free to download nowadays and having just tried it this week I was really impressed by how well it's been updated.

Another iracing participant here.
Started during covid with a pretty basic setup and have got slightly carried away since now with a dedicated rig and direct drive wheel etc.
Does everyone stick to a particular series/car or race whatever series is available?
I'm concentrating on Ray FF 1600 this season and usually in the top split but not quite on the pace, thinking about looking into trophyai coaching

I tend to venture between a class a/b and a class c/d each season for the participation $10. But most of my time was spent doing league racing and specials.
Few guys raced with like josh Benson that races with basic ollie runs a coaching gig called simcoach.
Few others from uksr were also venturing down path helping.
Suello is really good and a friend recently used him but wasn't suello himself
Noticed driver 61 has an trophi ai running which is supposed to be a coach over lay but not seen any decent reviews from.it and it's in early stages
