I'd echo Flemke's comments on the other thread about gearshift - my experience driving a 360 spider has been that the gearshift is nothing short of sublime. Snicking around the metal gate is fantastic!

Can't say I've noticed bad build quality either on any 360 I've looked at.

Must say I note a distressing number of instances where Porsche owners just seem to exist to insult other marques & their owners, be it Ferrari, Lotus, TVR etc etc.

OK, I admit, for engineering & reliability, they are in all probability peerless in the supercar ranks, but regrettably Porsche makes 30,000 911s a year & as such, they just dont stand out anymore (which may or may not be a bad thing, depending on your reasons for purchasing one in the first place).

As for the Boxster, again fine engineering & chassis, but oh so souless.

If you want ultimate performance, buy a S/charged Ariel Atom, if you want ultimate reliability, buy an NSX (well, not anymore ofcourse...).

Seems such a shame they are unable or unwilling to admit the relative strengths or weaknesses of there own & other vehicles, does tend to spoil the appreciation of the Porsche marque IMHO.

Also a lot of them seem to be missing the point - car ownership is more than just about having the 'best' car

I bought a GT3 last year after considering a 360. I didn't get it because I thought it was a 'better' car, either in terms of looks, performance, economy, ownership costs, how good it is on track etc. It was the right car for me at that time, and whatever car I get next won't be 'better' than the GT3. It will however be different - to look at, to drive, and as an ownership experience etc. I've had loads of cars but I've never sold one yet because I didn't like it ... so little time/dosh, so many cars out there

Amen to that.

People buy their cars for kinds of different reasons. To judge one against the other is almost impossible. Given the choice between a C2 and a 360 most people will present a good case for either car. Me, I'd have the 360. But then I have a GT3RS and in my opinion there isn't another car out there that would currently get close to doing what the RS does. However, if I wanted a good fun road/possing car with a healthy dose of rarity I would look towards the Italian stable. For now I will carry on thrashing the best road/track car you can buy around various circuits.

As BobM says each to their own and thank the Lord for varity.

There's no doubt I would also take a 360 over a C2 but then I don't believe the comparison is really that fair - the price differential is huge.
The 360 is quick, nice looking, sounds lovely (w/Tubi), and has "sharp" (if unresolved) handling. But as a performance car it's taken apart by a TT/GT2/GT3 but then perhaps those Porsches (particularly the latter 2) should be compared to a Challenge Stradale.

The real problem with Porsches is the comparative lack of exclusivity. They are EVERYWHERE (I live in London). I see GT3/GT2 less frequently than Lamborghinis' let alone Ferraris but the C2/C4/C4's/TT is just everywhere... That in itself is simply too irritating despite the price differential to make the boggo C2 Porsche a real contender against a 360 (even if the cars are much closer in a performance point of view than you'd think).

996 tt/360 is a more suitable comparison.... both are brilliant cars, no need for owners to get touchy or anything, tt is a lot quicker, but the 360 is better looking, sounds better, and has a sense of occasion, both have numerous plus points, and are very dif types of car... a challenge stradale for the weekend and a tt for every day use would be a nice combo.... im sure everyone would agree that most ferrari buyers would consider a porsche at some stage, and most porsche drivers a ferrari.... no need to have 2 camps, these are both beautiful cars which can be appreciated for their own individual talents... anyone who owns either is very lucky!
