I have a 1.4 Gb Windows Media Player file on my hard drive which is 90 mins of CCTV footage. I want to burn it onto DVD in a format that can be read by most DVD players.

I've got Nero as a burning tool. What file format do I need to convert my WMP file into before I burn it, in order that it can be played on any DVD player and how do I change the file format to a suitable one?

If your version of Nero comes with NeroVision then that'l do it all for you - check in the start menu under ahead/nero rather than going thru the wizzard thing.

Ermm.. No it doesn't come with Nero vision.

I've managed to convert it from a WMP file into an MPEG 1 file, but that hasn't helped me much really. What I need apparently is some DVD authorising software such as Nero Vision. Is there any freeware or shareware I can use or do I have to buy something and if so what?

The TMPGenC programs should do what you need. One specifically called DVD source creator. Most have a trial run, but full versions can be found on bittorrent too.
