Dumped car on my drive

Back in 2020 my dad dumped a focus st on my drive. The deal was he would take my car and have it on his drive while he fixed it. And I would keep that on mine drive till it was fixed.
4 years on. My car has been back at my house for 4 years. And my dad's car is still on my drive.
I have asked. And asked and asked and given dates for when I want the car moving. Yet he keeps telling me he's coming to take it away. And never done. I'm at my whits end now and no longer have anything much to do with my dad. And I want the car gone. It's pretty much parked in my back garden and the garden has started to take over the car. And it's in such a position that I can't tackle the garden around it as I can't get to it.

Is there anything I can actually do to get him to move the car. Can I get it scrapped or sell it ? What can I do with it.

If you have the keys, can you just drive it somewhere and leave it parked on the road.

It's been stood still all this time. It now won't run. I've charged the battery but I can't get it started

and if you don't have the keys, can you acquire some car moving dollies and roll it out to a legal, sensible parking space on a nearby road? If it's taxed and tested then it's perfectly legal, and if it's not then that sounds like a problem for the registered keeper.

I take it that you don't have a particularly good relationship with your father?

No we don't speak anymore. We were very close. But he jusy kept telling me he would come and get it and then never bothered coming and giving me a rubbish excuse.

It would be awful if someone new came along and got the impression we want new people to join.

Having been in the same position - I'd just get a scrap man to take it. If all your scrap men are funny about you not having a V5 - apply for one. I think it costs £25 now but you'll get more than that back off the scrap man.

It's sometimes better to ask forgiveness than try to get permission.

If the relationship is burned (which is a shame over a car) then either:

1) Send a letter (recorded delivery) that gives him 14 days notice that you will be disposing of the car.

2) Pay someone to tow it and dump it outside of his house, after all it is his.

3) Go and see him, take some beers/snacks/whatever you both like and see if you can talk. Car being the minor point.

What make and model is it?, come on we need to know?, future classic or st box , if it’s a st box then message your father to have it shifted by a certain date after which arrange for it to be lifted for scrap.

If you have the keys, then arranged for it to be towed back to your dad's place. Don't destroy the relationship over a car.
