If true, that's really depressing. He comes across as so nice on the TV and his story (beating illiteracy etc.) was genuinely inspiring.

The fact that he's been charged suggests there's fairly compelling evidence though, I can't imagine it's an easy crime to prosecute.

He isn’t guilty yet, of course. But it’ll be another headache for the BBC, especially if they’ve got unscreened episodes still to go out - presumably he’ll be ‘cancelled’ with immediate effect. Given the personal connections with the items that people bring onto the show, it’ll be pretty upsetting for any participants who end up having their episodes binned or having to come back to film bits of it again etc.

He hasn’t even had a trial yet and unless there is some third party evidence I presume it will be one persons word against another.

Regardless of these current events I never understood what he brought to the party, especially at the Repair Workshop.

I seem to recall on some other programme he painted the legs of a wooden chair different colours and was applauded, bizarre.

Famous for famous.

Never taken to him at all… maybe it’s his insistence on wearing a hat all the time, whatever the occasion. And his double act with David Jason is toe curlingly bad…
Never particularly enjoyed the Repair Shop either - I enjoy seeing the work of the very talented crafts people, but the something odd about the ‘prized family heirlooms’ that have in many cases been left rotting in the shed for the last 30 years.

It appears to be in the context of a very brief marriage, which ended is Blades’ wife leaving after describing the situation in a pretty negative way on social media.

He’s reported to have been unsurprisingly absent from the set of new series of Repair Shop currently being filmed. The bearded fellow who does the metalwork, and the youngster who does woodwork seem to be occasional stand-ins in previous series, so I’d expect one or both of them to be taking over as likely options.

A furniture shop near me has a "Jay Blades" designed range of sofa's and home furnishings. I wonder if they be be heavily discounted now.

Can they be beaten for prices?

Dominic who does the metalwork has his own YouTube channel and made the “Repair Shop” sign.

Agreed. It's not an illness or disability. It's just something you haven't learned at the normal time.

That's true, but it is a lot harder to learn as an adult than as a young child.
