I'm in Yorkshire on Saturday looking to ride for around 3-4 hrs

I've used Best Biking Roads before but sometimes it picks tiny roads with broken tarmac because they have a nice view - I like a view but prefer nice sweeping roads

Any "must do" or "avoid" sections ?

These are their suggestions

I'm starting from Keighley

Don’t go up the A1. Go from Ripon to Leyburn. Then over to Hawes and onto ribblehead viaduct. Turn left to Settle at the viaduct.

Leyburn to Hawes via Aysgarth, from Hawes over the Buttertubs pass, drop down into Thwaite, then on to the highest pub in England The Tan Hill Inn, via Keld, from The Tan Hill ride to Reeth and back to Leyburn. If you have time spend 20 minutes at either Aysgarth falls or Bolton Castle.

Great ride and fantastic place but Jesus the roads have small bumps, big bumps and undulations - frequently all three !

It was a good test of my suspension

Which way did you go in the end?

I got a bit carried away and did both !

On the main roads there was a lot more traffic than I expected

I presume there was an accident near Settle as the road was closed. So of course everyone, including me, turned around and the satnav directed us via some single track lanes

Which was a disaster - it was absolutely gridlocked with all the cars - you couldn't get a bicycle through - I suspect some of them are still stuck now !

Still I've seen a bit more of the area biggrin
