Indeed, and whilst he was all dolled up to receive an honorary degree....

Still, at least he was heard to comment 'Good Shot'
afterwards

Hang on, what Clarkson said was intended to be funny. It wasn't very funny to many of us, largely because we are very sensitive to cricism after years of being portrayed as some sort of neanderthal underclass. However, I have no doubt that it was said without malice and intended to be humorous.

He was pied by a lentil-eating militant left wing anarchist, who would like to see all of us off the roads and onto buses.

Who are siding with?

What, even after he suggested that people put chicken wire across the road to stop bikers and/or shoot bikers in the face.....

I used to respect him (even met hime once on the TVR stand at NEC) , now I just think he's an arrogant tw*t....

if clarkson have said "every chinaman should be shot in the face" would he have got away with it?

SHOT IN THE FACE....not "oh i think bikers need a kick up the bottom"....but "SHOT IN THE FACE" how is that in any way what so ever going to be funny?

i allways watch Top Gear and i still will, i know hes a pri*k who says this stuff just for effect, even if it was a lentil tree hugging hippy i dont care....it was funny...would have been even funnier if it was buck-shot

Shame the lentil muncher didn't walk up and shoot him in the face, and as a consequence take their own life through guilt. Rid the world of two types of people that we all could do without.

Oh FFS, he says all kinds of inflammatory things, we laugh when they're aimed at lentilists and numpties but when we find our hobby on the receiving end we get all sniffy?

Another comment he apparently made after being 'pied' - "At least they didn't dig up my granny" (after Animal Rights protestors did just that to the relatives of a chicken farm)

Might be a hobby to you m8, but to some of us it's a livelehood and I'll happily take being poked at, but considering his audience and wide appeal I think he ought to engage that peanut before spouting any more shit like that.

FFS, isn't it dangerous enough already without tossers like him encouraging the public to have a go....

Yes, even after that. In days of obscene political correctness, I enjoy him and his opinions regardless of whether or not I agree with them.

My hatred for him isn't due to his subjective remarks towards the biking community; it is purely because he is a tw@t.

The guy still resides in the 80's! He is the sort of bloke that pulled up at 6th form colleges, pubs and the like in a Mk2 Supra with his shirt slightly undone, wearing tight denim jeans, white socks, black slip-ons, and aviator sunglasses and listening to Def Leppard.

Fek'n looser. Get a haircut.

But what is the likelihood do you think of somebody actually taking it seriously, and physically shooting a biker in the face?! It's just not going to happen.

But people have been know to put stuff across roads and trails to injure bikers. Clarkson is a tt who probably is quite a pussy if you said anything to him without his minders.

I've been threatened with a shotgun before by some grumpy old sod while Trail Riding perfectly legally. We were on a Byway which is clearly marked on OS as such and even has a Byway sign at the start. However on our second circuit he took exception as he was out shooting and I guess we were disturbing whatever furry things he was after, the exact quote was "If you noisy fvckers come through here again then you'll be getting some of this" Can't say he was doing it because Clarkson said he should but comments like that do tend to reinforce peoples beliefs that motorcyclists are an underclass that have no rights even when they are conducted a lawfull past time in a respectfull manner. The Irony was that the bloke had both terriers and lurchers with him so I'd guess he was "hunting with dogs" don't know for sure what is and what isn't legal in that respect anymore so wouldn't gob off but I suspect he was actually walking a closer line as far as legallity is concerned than we were.

Also for the record I don't actually believe the hunting laws are correct simply because it's the thin end of the wedge from the Westminster sandal wearers who believe the countryside is for pictures, paintings and rambellers and not a living, working, enviroment that provides a living for thousands of people and should be enjoyed as a leisure venue for a huge variety of purposes. Including hunting, fishing, motorbikes, 4x4's, walking, riding, etc etc Just as long as everyone sticks to the rules for their bit it should all be fine.

Scary story Mel. I guess I do tend to agree with your comment about reinforcing beliefs that bikers are an underclass, though said in context I think the vast majority of people would have laughed, and then instantly forgotten the comment altogether. Regular viewers of the programme know what Clarkson is all about, and that coupled with the fact that both Hammond and May are bikers should have taken anything serious out of the comment. I accept that I may be in the minority here though, so i'll bow out of the discussion for fear of being taken more seriously than intended!
