Hi All

So its nearing the time to sell the trusty Merc B class B200 Sport and put the equity to use.
Should get around 6k for it and im willing to put in 10/11k.

Criteria:
No older than 2021
Petrol, Electric or Hybrid
Boot space above 400L
0-60 - under 9 seconds ideally
Big enough for a family of 4, with 2 girls nearing double digits.
Looking to keep it 5-6 years

Merc has served us well, quick enough (0-60 - 8 sec), big boot (around 480/490L), Compact, high seating, sportly looking.
1 big bill in 7.5 years but FSH and only down side has been a little costly with servicing.

Replacements in mind

Kia Sportage/Xceed/Niro - all with 4/5 years Warranty left and i know Kia's fairly well owning a Kia Proceed the last 3/4 years and their reliability/value for money.
Hyundia Tuscon
Lexus UX
Mazda CX-30

Looking for some recommendations and experiences please to broaden my outlook/cover something i hadnt thought of :0)

Many Thanks

Hi
What are your thoughts on my initial Kia/Lexus vehicles?

Are you stating the alternatives you’ve stated are better buys?

The Sportage is a good option with GT Line S/GT Line being the pick:

I don't see the UX as a good option they're imo too small & not great value.

All the alternatives I listed above are just alternatives they're not better or worse, I was just opening up your options.

Thanks that’s good feedback

I think the Sportage/Xceed seem to be good options so far.

I need to see them all in the flesh together.
The warranty is appealing. I also want something that isn’t going to be sluggish when packed up for a mini break but also has many options.
Can’t see past the Kia’s value for money at present.

You won't go wrong with either especially with the warranty.

Revisiting this thread

Sportage is now top of the list but increased the budget to £17k.
Also seen the Seat Ateca FR and leftfield the MG4 Electric within this range

As a package which would you feel is the best option? Anyone had experience of any of the 3 stated?

Many Thanks

imo the Ateca isn't better than the Sportage in anyway, I've not been in an MG4 so can't comment.

With the bigger budget you could get a Xceed hybrid:

How about a Peugeot 5008? The 3 individual rear seats may not be such a benefit now.

Thanks I think the 2021 GT Line is the best option.
Wanted to see if there are any alternatives recommended.
Trouble I’ve found is a lot of people haven’t kept to tue 12mth or 10k limit per service and so the 7yr warranty will be invalid

In my haste…. XCeed is too small I’m a big man with long legs and there is no room behind me unlike in the Sportage.
5008 I think would be overkill but thanks for the suggestions.
If I added £2-3k more to the budget what would people recommend at that level and would it be worth it?

I'd try the 5008 for size. Also had a Merc B200 and went to a C4 Grand Picasso. Same size and basic car as the 5008. If boot size is important many of what you are looking at aren't much bigger some even smaller than your current car.

You'll get a newer car/bigger one but I'm not sure you'll make a big step up in the Kia but you will get a facelift Tucson with the hybrid drivetrain:

Petrol:

The DS7 is a great option & if you get one from a main dealer you'll also get a 2 year warranty, it may be to big though:

Thanks. Appreciate your input.
The petrol Tucson would be too slow and I think you’re right it won’t be much of a step up/not worth the extra.
DS I’ve seen one in the flesh I thought from a distance it was an Audi and I’ve sat in it and I was impressed but I think you make a good poInt. Too big for my needs

B class is idea we just need a newer car, size in the back needs to be improved for bigger passengers and I think that’s where the Kia wins pound for pound.
The new B class 1.3 we sat in recently, loved it but it’s a Renault engine and I’m not happy buying a Merc with a Renault engine in.
That’s why we went for the higher output B200 in the first place

Hi
I think so. Just wanted to ask the more experienced and in the know if I’d missed any alternatives.

Thanks again

We were looking similar and the Renault Kadjar was actually a really strong competitor and wouldn’t discount it.

RAV4. Ticks all those boxes. Reliable, cheap servicing & 10 year / 100k warranty if you get it serviced by main dealers.

Hmm not a fan of the Kadjar but thank you.
Had a Quick Look at the Rav4. Think they’re a bit out of the price range when looking for a 3/4 year old with reasonable mileage.
Thanks for the input all.
