PH doctors - pectus excavatum

Do any of you lot know much about the condition called 'pectus excavatum' (latin, more commonly known to my friends as 'the freaky hole in your chest' :( ). If you havn't guessed I have it and its crap. It really is. Its also affecting my stamina when running severly but I was told by a crappy temp. doctor about 4 months ago that it would be classed as "cosmetic surgery" so the NHS wouldn't fix it.

How much do you know about it? and what are op's like?

Not got that but I do have a crushed in chest due to car accident. Makes breathing quite hard sometimes and ribs hurt like hell all the time - and this is 20 years ago!!
