Just paid the charge for somebody to drop us off at T5.

As far as I can see, there's no equivalent for pickup - they just need to use the car park - is that right?

(We won't be asking them to wait in a McDonalds / Petrol station etc. a mile away - I'd just like to confirm the "normal" way for pickup at Heathrow).

Cheers - might pay for short stay since I'm not sure I can be bothered with a shuttle bus after a long haul flight, but good to know the options.

I was there yesterday and the car park attached to T5 was £7.50 for the first half an hour. So its probably best to only drive in when you know they are ready to be collected. It could get expensive if there are delays and you end up in there for an hour or so.

Yeah - I think we've agreed that we'll only call them for pickup when we've landed / getting baggage (it's about a 30 min drive) so we should only have to pay for 30 mins. (We're the ones travelling - somebody else is providing the personal taxi service)

I always park in the short stay carparks and try and get out within the 30 minute window. I tend to get there about 20 minutes after the plane lands and hope they get through passport control quickly.

Girlfriends dad on the other hand gets there half an hour before the plane lands, just in case........

The 30mins free parking in the long stay is a bit of a con, yes it is only a 5min shuttle bus to the terminal but they only run every 15mins!
I picked someone up and used the long stay a couple months ago, was expecting to pay £9.50 for up to 2hrs (inc 30mins free), customs was on a bit of a go slow so I was 10mins over the 2hrs leaving the car park so it cost me £46.50

It’s £9.40 for up to 2 hours but then you have to pay for a day which is £39.50
