One of my tail lights is playing silly buggers again, and cost me an MOT. It's already been repaired twice so I've bought a s/h replacement (advertised as working) ready to fit when the rain stops.

My question is about the connector on the back. Would it be advisable, while the light is out, to give it and the pins a shot of switch cleaner, and if so what's best to use please?

Thanks; I wondered if WD40 was any good or whether it would make it worse...

If it’s not wet why use a water dispersant?

I use Holts electrical contact cleaner…Euro Car Parts sell it.

It's not wet, but the contacts may be dirty. I'd normally use meths, but can't get it into such tiny parts.

This! Or similar switch/contact cleaners which leave a film on the surface to keep further corrosion at bay.
I was plagued with bad contacts on my Audi A6, a few hours opening all accessible connectors and spraying with this has given me a year’s trouble free motoring!

This is the stuff you want:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Servisol-701-100UK-Super-...

I used it on loads of car electronics & home amps, guitars etc over the years, great stuff.
