OK, so the 5th year has to be bigger and better than ever. In response to an earlier thread about a visit to France Tarte sur la Plage is born :D

Still in very early days and just but a seedling of an idea - options are open from a day trip to an overnighter or a 2 night jolly meeting with the UK POTBV gang on Hayling on the Sunday.

I'm going over in a few weeks for a Reconnaissance mission and am currently favouring 3 options.

1. Portsmouth/Cherbourg with a visit to the landing beaches and perhaps the Bayeux Tapestry (a bit of sewing may sound dull but actually it's quite interesting).

2. Portsmouth/Le Havre with a jaunt over the huge toll bridge to Honfleur (stunning fishing port) and Deauville.

3. A combination of both, Portsmouth/Cherbourg, jaunt down the Cherbourg peninsular, across to Honfleur and Le Havre/Portsmouth home.

I've done all 3 before and all good fun.
Like I say early days, it's a year away, but an early show of hands would make the planning easier.

As always I'll be glad to help out! And, of course, enjoy a big slice of Tarte sur la Plage.

I'm up for it if it's not in early September! as I'll probably be on holiday!

However if it coincides with either my departure or return dates?

Up for the recon though, give me a shout!

Have just done a blat to Normandy and the beaches, so yell if you need any hotel details as we stayed in an excellent place in Bayeux where the owners were very car friendly and had some undercover parking.

Have you thought of a day trip/ 1 night stop to Le Touquet. Its a bit cheaper and not such a long trip and I also know a central hotel with underground parking. Its basic but does the job.

Mail me off line if you need more info - happy to discuss over a beer sometime

Having just got rid of Noelle, I would welcome a Tart. Put me down as a provisional especially for option 3 - I may even find an excuse for being on the south coast with work about that time if the current plans come together !
