I’ve just seen a camera van in a bridge whilst doing 77mph on a motorway.

Can I look forward to another 3 points.

Isn't 77 a possible, but less likely?

10% + 2 is where tickets start? No?

I've slowly passed a police car at actual 77 (satnav), on the M62 and got no reaction at all. I didn't want to suddenly brake and draw attention! All the other cars were hanging back behind or level with the police car. hehe If I'd been switching lanes and pissing about it might have been different. Do camera vans have actual number targets to achieve? I also got caught by a police car on a bridge, on the M62 again, who clocked me at 107mph, but that's another story, and one I've told on here before!

Anyway, Good Luck!

If the guidelines are followed by the powers that be, 78 is ‘safe’ and 79 is not.

14 days to see.

An hour later, there was another camera van in a busy 30. May of been doing 33/34.

I have my own company that involves me driving 25k miles per year. Losing my license would be catastrophic.

Does your car not have a speed limiter? Having picked up 3 points after a speed awareness course back in January 23, every time I am in the car, I will use the limiter pretty much every time.

If in a 30, then set to 32, 40, 43, 50, 54, and on a motorway 75 and keep my eyes peeled for the variable reductions.

My BMW does and use it all the time. However, I was in the Jaguar and that doesn’t…

I have always had cruise control set at 77mph for the last probably 8 years of driving (mainly between JCT30 > JCT35 of the M1 where there are LOTS of cameras) and *touch wood*, never had a ticket. (Although not recently, roadworks so its a 50 (PH. Pedantry matters.))

As others have said, depends on actual vs indicated.

You passed a camera van on a bridge and were nervous that you were over the limit.

So nervous that you then went through a 30mph zone at 33/34 an hour later??

You're probably being super-paranoid having been spooked by the first camera van.

The speed limiter thing is great - I use mine the whole time.

I'd always figured this was urban myth and/or down to plod's discretion.

But my 17yo new-driver daughter was telling me the other week that her Aunt, my sister-in-law, a civilian in the Police, told her this as if it was gospel.
