Hi all,

Google wasn't really helpful, so thought I'd ask here; I've had an email from Richmond Hyundai about 'an exclusive personal upgrade offer', and while it looks genuine enough, it's got a weird looking link connected to it when you mouse over the link text.

It's an EDM email, not the music, but electronic marketing and the links go to a site where you register your name and offer code. I have been in contact with them relatively recently, so seeing an email like this isn't completely out of the blue.

Might be being paranoid, but has anyone seen anything similar? Would be up for a bit of a deal on something (as much as a deal it would be I suppose), but not if all my data gets ferried off somewhere biglaugh

It'll be a tracking link so they know who clicked the link. Without seeing it and based on your description, I'd say it was normal marketing crap.

Crazy idea here.
You could phone them to find out if the deal is legit.
Ask to speak to the sales deptartment.

It's a sales schtick. Nothing more. Everyone will have the same code. The deals aren't really any better than normal but they might push a bit more for a deal if you go along to get their numbers up.

Yeah just marketing to get you to upgrade into something newer, we've got them a few times previously from our local dealer.

Cheers all, figured as much!

As some have said; likely no more than a ploy to get people onsite and talked into a 'deal', but if I can sneak another test drive of the 5N in, I'll go just for that lol

Will be generic sales stuff, I get regular invites from two different BMW dealers about "Exclusive invitations to a special sales event" nothing special about it at all they go out to everyone on a mailing list.
